Well, believe it or not the average person has a good chance of diy fixing that digital stuff themselves. All they'll need for most cases is some patience, and a little background knowledge. The intent of the posts on this blog are to help provide that knowledge.

Sony Ericsson W800i disassembly

Sony Ericsson W800i disassembly

Tools required: Torx 6 screwdriver, plastic tool such as a guitar plectrum or credit card.

Remove your back cover, battery, sim and memory card. Remove the two screws circled below.

Run your plastic tool all the way around the edge of the front cover to release it.

Your phone should now look like below. Remove the two screws circled below.

Now remove the white keypad part. It should come away with little force. Note that a ribbon and socket (both circled in white) will disconnect. They fit together like a plug and socket and will simply push back into place. Another ribbon, circled in red, also needs to be disconnected. Again, this attaches like a plug and socket. Lift the ribbon up, away from the phone to unplug it.

You can now lift the LCD screen away from the phone. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly.
