Well, believe it or not the average person has a good chance of diy fixing that digital stuff themselves. All they'll need for most cases is some patience, and a little background knowledge. The intent of the posts on this blog are to help provide that knowledge.

Nokia 6600 Slide disassembly

Tools required: Torx 5 screwdriver, plastic tool such as a guitar plectrum or credit card.

Remove your back cover, battery, sim and memory card. Remove the six screws you can see.

Run something like a credit card under the keypad to release it.

With the keypad removed your phone should look like below. Remove the two screws you can see. Then pull the housing in the direction shown by the arrows to release the two clips that hold the circuit board in place.

The battery compartment should no be loose. Lift it away from the rest of the phone, as shown.

Your phone should now look like below. The circled connector needs to be disconnected. It attaches like a plug and socket. Just lever it up to unplug.

You can now lift the circuit board away from the rest of the phone.

Run your plastic tool all the way around the join of the front cover to release it.

Remove the part shown below. You can either pull it away with your fingernails or lever it off with something like a small flat head screwdriver.

You can now remove the front cover, as shown below.

The metal frame should also be loose and can be removed. Another ribbon connector needs to be unplugged like the one in the earlier stages of the guide.

You now need to slide your plastic tool under the screen. It'll be stuck down with double sided tape so a little force is required.

You should now have the LCD screen removed. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly.

Tools required: Torx 5 screwdriver

First remove the battery cover & battery. Remove the four screws you see in the battery compartment.

Run your fingernail around the join of each side of the slide and it'll release slightly.

Now use something like a credit card to lift the keypad up.

The front part of the phone will still be connected by a ribbon which attaches like a plug and socket. Use your credit card to lever it off. You'll now be able to lift the top part away from the rest of the phone.

With the two parts separated your phone will look like the picture below.

Turn the top half of the phone over. Pull the keypad part away from the rest of the phone. It's held in place with double sided tape. You'll then have two parts like below. Remove the two screws at the top of the phone

Now push the slider back up and you'll be able to remove two screws at the bottom of the phone.

You can now remove the metal plate, as shown below.

The LCD screen will now only be attached by a ribbon. The ribbon attaches like a plug and socket. Just lift it up to unplug it.

Lift the screen towards you as shown below. The big ribbon on the back of the screen is held on with double sided tape. Just peel it away so the screen is freed.

You have now removed the LCD screen. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly.
