Oh no! You've dropped your digital stuff. And it's out of warranty. And repair costs more than the digital stuff is worth. What to do short of tossing the digital stuff (or selling on ebay)? Well, believe it or not the average person has a good chance of diy fixing that digital stuff themselves. All they'll need for most cases is some patience, and a little background knowledge. The intent of the posts on this blog are to help provide that knowledge.

Sony Ericsson T200 disassembly

Sony Ericsson T200 disassembly

Tools required: Torx 6 screwdriver

First remove the battery cover, battery and sim card. Next remove the four screws you see

Pull the two halves of the phone apart to remove the front cover.

Your phone will now look like below. Now remove the two screws you can see. You can then remove the circuit board from the back of the phone

Your phone should now look like below.

The LCD is attached with double sided tape around the edges. Give it a firm pull to lift it from the circuit board. Try and lift it from the bottom edge on each side as the screen will still be attached by a ribbon which you don't want to pull too hard as it may damage the socket which it plugs into.

The screen is attached to the circuit board by a ribbon. Pull this away from the circuit board to release it, paying attention to how it connects.

You should now have the LCD screen removed and you can replace it with your new LCD. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly.
