Well, believe it or not the average person has a good chance of diy fixing that digital stuff themselves. All they'll need for most cases is some patience, and a little background knowledge. The intent of the posts on this blog are to help provide that knowledge.

Nokia E61 disassembly

Nokia E61 disassembly

Tools required: Torx 6 screwdriver

Remove the back cover, battery, sim card and memory card.

Using a plastic shim, such as a guitar plectrum or credit card, lift the antenna cover away from the phone. Some force is required.

You should now have the antenna cover removed. Now remove the six screws you see. The front cover will now be loose.

You should now have the front cover removed, like below. Now remove the screw you can see near the top of the phone, above the LCD screen.

Pull the metal frame towards you, just enough to allow you to remove the LCD screen. The LCD connector (circled) attaches like a plug and socket. Simply lift the connector up to unplug it.

Lift the screen away from the rest of the phone. Your phone should now look like below and you can replace the LCD. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly.
